Ash Wednesday Opportunities

We were once asked, more than fifteen years ago, “What is a Baptist church doing observing the Season of Lent?”  All these years later, Snow Hill is just one among many Baptist churches that found the Christian Season of Lent a healthy way to prepare for Easter.

Tomorrow we will offer opportunities for reflection on Ash Wednesday, the day that begins the Season of Lent.

We have put together a self-directed time of reflection for this Ash Wednesday. There are five stations that you may spend whatever time you would like thinking through the theme, participating in the practice that is offered or silently reflecting in prayer. The  Cross and Ashes with instructions there. If you are short on time but would still like to stop by, choose which stations you would like to enjoin and listen to the Spirit of God. Or, having prayer about what you might give up or give for the Season, move straight to the Cross and Ashes. We have put this together to provide an occasion to gather beyond our traditional service that will take place at 7:00 p.m.

Here is a rundown of the schedule. Each of these opportunities may be found in the Youth Room.

Tomorrow Morning – Self-Directed

7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.

Tomorrow Midday – Self-Directed

11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Tomorrow Evening – Ash Wednesday Service

7:00 p.m. – 7:45 p.m.

One way to think about the mission of Jesus - He calls into question the way things are and points to the way things may be in the Kingdom of God.
