When Heaven and Earth Collide

We need always be prepared to address the way our faith intersects our culture. Along the way we may find ways the culture influenced the Church more. Alan Cross, pastor in Montgomery, Alabama, and a friend of Pastor Todd’s, published, When Heaven and Earth Collide: Racism, Southern Evangelicals and the Better Way of Jesus, in 2014.

whenhecTrained as a history teacher and later as a missionary/minister at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, Alan sought to answer questions raised when he returned to the South to pastor in Montgomery. Alan has had a role in the SBC’s ongoing improvement on matters of race. At the recent Annual Meeting in Columbus, OH, Thom Rainer, President of Lifeway, publicly thanked Alan for his instigations.

Last week Pastor Todd interviewed Alan after Alan had written an article in the aftermath of the shooting of the Charleston 9. Click over and listen to the interview on Pastor Todd’s website. Then, order the book and learn the ways we may avoid the errors of the past and live in the better way of Jesus.

Jesus invites people into his life and his way. He takes what is and points to the new way of the Kingdom of God.  Come see what this journey is all about!

One way to think about the mission of Jesus - He calls into question the way things are and points to the way things may be in the Kingdom of God.
