Participation – Moving from Consuming to Producing

World Neighbors creates a market for artisans and crafters in Oklahoma City each fall. Handmade goods are shipped to a venue and featured for an “Opening Night” event and then a day long “Bazaar.” In this way, they help those in disadvantaged economies find a place to move from consuming at the fountain of benevolence and moving to live off their products.

Our Youth have undertaken to fund a clean water well in Guatemala. They dubbed their move to participate in the lives of others, “Poured Out.’ You may watch their video by clicking here.

Some of our youth determined to take some “seed” money given and create handmade projects to sell. We created a market for them to sell their products after our worship gathering on Sunday mornings. Rather than “hit” others up for a gift, these young people planned their projects, bought their materials, and created their products. We simply offered a place to invite others to participate.

In this way, they are working to participate by producing for the good and blessing of others. Keep your eye out for their handiwork. Through their past efforts Snow Hill Youth are about $1000 away from their $5000 goal. Maybe their illustration would spur your imagination to get involved.

Jesus invites people into his life and his way. He takes what is and points to the new way of the Kingdom of God.  Come see what this journey is all about!

One way to think about the mission of Jesus - He calls into question the way things are and points to the way things may be in the Kingdom of God.
