Open Hands – Not Closed Fists

Sometimes images help promote a way of life more than words. There are instances where words conjure and image that carries the idea further than a long explanation. In Deuteronomy 15:8 the people of God hear the ways those who suffer the indignities of poverty that comes on suddenly and unexpectedly should be cared for, “but you shall open your hand.”

Even in worrisome economic times, Snow Hill demonstrates the open hand rather than the closed fist. This year there will be nearly 100 children who will enjoy something “under the tree” that otherwise may well have done without. Some of these children are in Foster Care. Others are children in a variety of communities who find the offer of a box of food on Wednesdays the means to keep the lights on or pay the propane bill. Many are hard working people who for one reason or another face unwelcome uncertainty.

Through the generous gifts of either  those who are part of the Snow Hill family or are friends of those in the Snow Hill family a large group of children will experience the love of God. We thank God for open hands at Snow Hill and in our larger community who make this possible.

Jesus invites people into his life and his way. He takes what is and points to the new way of the Kingdom of God.  Come see what this journey is all about!

One way to think about the mission of Jesus - He calls into question the way things are and points to the way things may be in the Kingdom of God.
