Christmas In August

Talk about programs in a local church often meets with, "Not another program." (sigh) Talk about using a computer and harnessing its power and talk of programs is second nature. We are glad to have leaders who continue a couple of longstanding Southern Baptist programs. Debbie Worthan and Kristi Chambers lead our Girls In Action. Weekly these leaders open up the world and the people of the world to young girls. Exposure to different cultures and the ongoing activity of God in the world often inspire young people to participate with God in a variety of ways.

One of the cooperative ministry opportunities Snow Hill and other churches experience through these young girls is, "Christmas In August." Missionaries receive special attention as these leaders and girls help the church understand the kinds of needs about which they have learned. This year their goal was to provide resources for Chaplain Tisher and the ministry of Called to Care in Blanchard, OK.

Chaplain Tisher joined the group last night to put a face with a name, receive the items collected from  those in our church and share her life with these young girls. Who knows what one day one of these young girls might hear the call of God to serve others in the same way.

Our GA’s were joined by our R.A.’s for the picture. Click the photo to enlarge it and you will find Chaplain Tisher on the front row on the right.

Jesus invites people into his life and his way. He takes what is and points to the new way of the Kingdom of God.  Come see what this journey is all about!

One way to think about the mission of Jesus - He calls into question the way things are and points to the way things may be in the Kingdom of God.
